What is ultraviolet radiation?
Microwave technology powers UV lamps to emit two types of ultraviolet (UV) radiation: 185 nm and 253.7 nm wavelengths. The UV light at 185 nm is capable of triggering the decomposition of oxygen molecules, generating ozone-a natural sanitizer and deodorizer. Ozone's powerful oxidizing properties enable it to effectively neutralize bacteria and viruses by disrupting their organelles, DNA, and RNA.
Meanwhile, the 253.7 nm UV light is particularly adept at penetrating microbial cells, where it interacts with proteins and nucleic acids. This interaction results in the denaturation of proteins and the destruction of DNA and RNA, effectively rendering the microbes inactive and unable to replicate.
Both UV radiation and ozone are recognized methods for mitigating the transmission of viruses, including the Coronavirus.
